A playful, non-vintage Barbera built for immediate pleasure. Current lots draw primarily from organically farmed fruit in Costigliole d'Asti, with a small component from the estate's Piedmont vineyards. As an NV wine, the precise lot composition may vary.
Fruit is fully destemmed and fermented spontaneously in stainless steel, often initiated with a pied de cuve. A maceration of roughly two weeks gives color and flavor without hard extraction. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
The wine rests for a little over six months in neutral vessels, principally tank; some lots may include seasoned wood. The intent is freshness and transparency rather than oak flavor.
Luminous ruby-violet in color, with fresh cherry, sour cherry, violet and wild herbs. Juicy and lively on the palate, driven by Barbera's bright acidity, red-berry fruit, soft tannins and a clean, refreshing finish.
Joyful Barbera: vivid red fruit, brisk acidity and an energetic, table-ready finish.
