Pierre Prieur et Fils

Eleven generations of Sancerre in Verdigny.

Central Vineyards, Loire Valley

Domaine Pierre Prieur et Fils is based at the Domaine de Saint-Pierre in Verdigny, one of the fourteen communes of the Sancerre appellation. The Prieur family has worked vines here for eleven generations; today brothers Thierry and Bruno Prieur run the estate with Bruno’s son Sébastien. The domaine gives its holdings as more than fifteen hectares, twelve of them Sauvignon Blanc and the rest Pinot Noir.

The vineyards cover the three classic Sancerre soils — terres blanches, caillottes and silex — and include parcels on the Monts Damnés slope. The estate is certified organic from the 2023 vintage and holds HVE Level 3 certification; grapes are picked by hand and each parcel is vinified separately.

The domaine Sancerre Blanc draws on all three soil types across the Sancerrois; Les Monts Damnés comes from clay-limestone on a steep, south-facing slope at Chavignol; Les Silex is grown on flint.
