Audeant — Latin for “may they dare” — was founded in 2016 by proprietor Teal Walker and winemaker Andrew Riechers, and works from a small cellar in Newberg, Oregon, in the northern Willamette Valley.
The wines come from partner vineyards: old own-rooted vines at Nysa in the Dundee Hills, the biodynamically farmed, dry-grown Seven Springs vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills, planted in 1983, and the forest-edged slopes of Luminous Hills and Stardance in the Coast Range foothills. The partner sites are organically farmed. In 2018 Audeant planted its own Gatewood Vineyard at elevations up to 1,100 feet, harvested for the first time in 2024. Whole-cluster proportions vary by site — none at Stardance, 70 percent at Luminous Hills in the 2023 wines — and the wines see mostly neutral French oak, long élevage and bottling without filtration.
The Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is assembled from five hillside vineyards. Around it sit single-vineyard Pinot Noirs from Nysa, Luminous Hills and Stardance, and a Chardonnay from Seven Springs — lots of 68 to 205 cases.
