Germain Père et Fils

Family domaine in Saint-Romain since 1955, now led by third-generation Arnaud Germain.

Saint-Romain, Côte de Beaune, Burgundy Coming soon

Domaine Germain Père et Fils was founded in 1955 by Bernard Germain in Saint-Romain, in the hills above the Côte de Beaune. His grandson Arnaud joined his parents in 2009 and now leads the estate: fourteen hectares centred on Saint-Romain, with further parcels in Pommard, Beaune, Volnay and Meursault.

The domaine is certified High Environmental Value (HVE). Ploughing is done late in the season so as not to wake the vines too early, and passes are kept few to avoid compacting the soil; the fruit is picked by hand, parcel by parcel. The vineyards sit between 300 and 420 metres, in a natural amphitheatre cut into the limestone escarpment; higher up, the estate notes, marl and clay restore freshness and tension.

Oenoteca imports two Saint-Romain lieux-dits — Le Jarron and Sous le Château, the latter a blend of two parcels at 400 metres, on the highest part of the village — alongside a Bourgogne Aligoté.
